Hazel is a 10 year old female Springer Cross. She was found as a stray, presumed dumped. No one came to claim her, and so after 7 days in the pound she was taken to South East Dog Rescue. As you will see from her photos, She had a huge mass which was removed soon after she arrived.

It weighed almost 1kg, so she was so happy not to have to carry that around any longer. Thankfully it was a benign tumour, and she recovered quickly and easily after the surgery. She have also had a second surgery to remove some small mammary tumours, and she was spayed at the same time.

The vets X-ray’d her chest which was all clear and so now she fully recovered from all surgeries and am ready to find her new family. Please do not let her age fool you! She a pocket rocket with a LOT of energy!! She absolutely love her walks and will need someone physically fit and able to work on her lead walking, as slow and steady is yet to exist in her vocabulary!!

She absolutely love people, and can live with sensible, dog savvy children aged 6 years and over. She happy to meet other dogs without any issues, and could live as an only dog, or with a canine friend. Unfortunately no cats or small furries.

It’s unlikely that she have any recall off lead she find smells far too interesting and my hearing is not all it used to be. She have not shown any signs of separation anxiety whilst in kennels, and appear to be house trained. She a perfect patient at the vets, and am learning to be calm in the car.

She haven’t had much training, so my new family will need to be prepared to invest time. Older dogs can certainly learn new trick especially if there are treats involved!! Before applying, please remember that I have a lot of energy as well as a lot of love to give!! I will need mental and physical stimulation, and a lot of cuddles. As well as a secure garden!!

Sulley – 1-2 year old male Springer Cross

Sulley is a 1-2 year old male Springer Cross. He has had a really bad start to his short life and has been one of the worst malnutrition cases I have seen for a long time.

Sulley came in as a stray with Mikey, possibly his brother. Most of the time these guys are fine together but if I spend time with Mikey then Sulley gets jealous and starts nipping.

When it’s dinner time both dogs are separated but knowing it’s food time is enough for Sulley to start fighting with Mikey.

Therefore Sulley needs a dog-free home or one where separation is not an issue. Sulley is a nervous pup who knows very little about life in general.

Sulley travels well and is clingy at the vets but once he feels his paws under the table he can be quite a handful. I would say he is crossed with a pointer due to his looks and behaviour.

Sulley is still underweight but climbing steadily and now weighs around 14kg. He still needs around 3 kg to look at a reasonable weight.

Due to his condition, he has not yet started his vacs but hopefully, this will be something we can arrange next week. Sulley loves toys and is very inquisitive.

Sulley will guard toys with Mikey so again he cannot have these when they are in the kennel, only at playtime. Sulley tries to gain attention by nipping.

Sulley is still very puppy-like but this could easily progress so Sulley needs firm training and routine. Sulley will need experienced owners. Sulley sleeps in an open crate but is not locked in.

Sulley will travel in a crate. Sulley is not lead-trained but is learning to accept a harness. He is not housetrained however tries very hard to only do his business outside the kennel or on the pellets provided.

Sulley never soils his bed or kennel run apart from on the pellets. Sulley gets overstimulated very easily but on a one-to-one, he becomes very much more settled.

This is something I cannot currently do whilst he is in kennels. I believe this boy will be a fantastic companion to someone who has the time to devote to him.

Sulley is generally a gorgeous boy who just has had the worst start to his life and deserves to be loved and offered a chance to develop.

Mikey is a 1-2 year old male Springer cross Pointer. He arrived with his brother. Both were extremely underweight and petrified. It has taken a long time for them to settle.

Mikey is hyper however once settled he is an absolute gem. He loves cuddles and attention. When left he will settle but sometimes will bark for a while.

Mikey doesn’t understand treats and will usually carry them around like a prize. He doesn’t guard toys or treats. He loves food and will gulp it down in seconds.

He had been starved before arriving with Spaniel’s aid. He will fight with another dog over food but not humans. Mikey has been to the vet four times and has behaved extremely well.

Mikey travels well in a crate but doesn’t like getting in. Mikey is still learning to walk on a lead.

It takes time for him to settle before he walks nicely. This is something an owner would need to work on as well as new sounds and locations.

Mikey is currently walking on private property due to him being very nervous. He loves games and will bring toys back to you.

Mikey is not destructive and has a quilt to sleep on which he does not chew. He is not house-trained, however, usually waits to exercise time due to his bounciness.

There has been an odd accident but mainly due to a change of diet.

Mikey appears to have a sensitive stomach. He is currently on a plain diet to encourage firm motions.

Mikey would not live well with young children due to his business and odd mouthing moment. Teenage Plus would be ideal.

Mikey has a lot to learn, he has suffered greatly in his early months of life and now deserves a chance of happiness.

If you have the time and patience to bring this boy’s potential out then you will have the best dog. He is a hidden gem!
